چکیده

There is an evolving appreciation that high-density lipoproteins (HDL) highly heterogeneous in both composition and function. With the advent of advanced lipid-testing techniques allow for quantitation recovery individual particle populations, we are beginning to connect functionality HDL subspecies with chronic inflammatory diseases. Psoriasis (PSO), provides a reliable human model study how may relate non-calcified coronary plaque burden (NCB). We hypothesized would directly associate NCB beyond traditional cardiovascular risk factors. Methods: Patients severe PSO (45) without known disease who were candidates biologic therapy underwent CCTA (320 detector, Toshiba) quantification using QAngio (Medis). All patients had fasting blood draws measurement composition. Results: subjects middle aged 46.8 (±SD 11.2) predominantly men(80%). was negatively associated multiple parameters including HDL-concentration (β=-.55; p=.001), number (β=-.41;p=.007), size (β=-.44; p=.009) large (β=-.54;p=.001) after adjusting age, sex, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus statin use. Furthermore, higher than median worse cardiometabolic profile lower concentration, size. Conclusions: psoriasis serve as biomarker subclinical atherosclerosis.

Neutrophil/Lymphocyte Ratio Is Associated with Non-Calcified Plaque Burden in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease

BACKGROUND Elevations in soluble markers of inflammation and changes in leukocyte subset distribution are frequently reported in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Lately, the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio has emerged as a potential marker of both CAD severity and cardiovascular prognosis. OBJECTIVES The aim of the study was to investigate whether neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio and other...

Dietary Linolenic Acid Is Inversely Associated With Calcified Atherosclerotic Plaque in the Coronary Arteries

Background—High dietary intake of linolenic acid is associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease mortality. However, little is known about the association between linolenic acid and subclinical atherosclerosis. Methods and Results—To examine the association between dietary linolenic acid measured by food frequency questionnaire and calcified atherosclerotic plaque in the coronary arte...

Serum Osteoprotegerin Is Associated With Calcified Carotid Plaque

Osteoprotegerin (OPG) is a kind of tumor necrosis factor, which is related to bone metabolism and vascular calcification. The increase of Osteoprotegerin concentration in serum is related to cardiovascular diseases in humans. The purpose of this study was to figure out the relevance between osteoprotegerin in serum and carotid calcification. Serum OPG concentrations were compared in 145 patient...

HDL particle number and size as predictors of cardiovascular disease

Previous studies indicate that reduced concentrations of circulating high-density lipoprotein (HDL) particles can be superior to HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C) levels as a predictor of cardiovascular disease. Measurements of HDL particle numbers, therefore, bear a potential for the improved assessment of cardiovascular risk. Furthermore, such measurement can be relevant for the evaluation of novel the...

HMGB1 Is Associated with Atherosclerotic Plaque Composition and Burden in Patients with Stable Coronary Artery Disease

OBJECTIVES The role of inflammation in atherosclerosis is widely appreciated. High mobility group box 1 (HMGB1), an injury-associated molecular pattern molecule acting as a mediator of inflammation, has recently been implicated in the development of atherosclerosis. In this study, we sought to investigate the association of plasma HMGB1 with coronary plaque composition in patients with suspecte...
